Résumé
The article examines author Edouard Glissant's use of rhythm in his novel "Le Quatriéme Siécle" as a means of sounding and recovering lost history and structuring the narrative of the mnemonic process. It provides cross-references to Joseph Zobel's novel "La Rue Cases-Négres" and situates Glissant's work within the context of contemporary Francophone Caribbean fiction. It explores how the novel reworks the trope of rhythm as a fundamental aspect of Caribbean poetics.
