An essay is presented discussing Edouard Glissant's "Tout-Monde" and the effects of concentrating on the forest as a point of figuration as well as analysis for a world literature that emanates from English, French, and Spanish-language work on the Caribbean. It discusses the meta- and paratextual comment on forests in the South, highlighting novelist Alejo Carpentier's rejection on writer André Breton and artist André Masson surreal forest.
